For nearly 30 years, hundreds of NHL, Olympic, National and Junior Team athletes and recreational players have trusted Gus Thorson to help them perform at their best. Gus has been involved in outfitting and serving local, national and international hockey players for more than two decades.

Skate Sharpening

Ask any coach and they'll tell you the most important skill in hockey is skating. Our job at Breakaway Sports Repair is to help you become the best skater you can be through state-of-the-art skate sharpening. We use the latest technology from Blackstone and offer both conventional sharpening and the Flat Bottom V. Don't forget to ask us about our team rates and sharpening cards.

Equipment Repair

For many players, their equipment is like an old friend and they can't imagine playing with new gloves, new skates or new goal equipment. We offer repairs and customizing to all types of hockey equipment, including glove re-palming, sewing and mending of protective equipment, goaltender equipment repair and custom work.

Skate & Equipment Rentals

Breakaway Sports Repair has a fleet of hockey skates and helmets available for rent at the Markin MacPhail Centre.
Major credit cards and photo ID are required for all rentals. Breakaway Sports Repair is located at the main entrance of the Markin MacPhail Centre.
