Sprawling in size, the 500,000 square foot athletic and ice complex is the home of Hockey Canada, WinSport Canada and the head offices of close to 20 national and provincial winter sport organizations. As one of the most unique athletic environments in the world, the Markin MacPhail Centre will provide the competitive advantage for our athletes along with recreational opportunities for youth pursuing an active lifestyle and to be inspired by high performance athletes.
The athletic and ice complex makes a bold statement, symbolizing Canada's commitment to sport, to our nation's athletes and to the importance of healthy, active lifestyles for all Canadians. The facility provides Hockey Canada with a home where they can operate effectively, share best practices and raise the level of development of their sport. It brings together the sport sciences and athlete support services from all sports into a sport institute model.
