Audio Visual Specialist

The Audio Visual Specialist is responsible for sound, audiovisual and multimedia support throughout the venues at WinSport Canada. This position is also responsible for maintaining the digital signage system on-site. 

Responsibilities could include. but will not be limited to:

  • Determining equipment requirements for events and functions
  • Setting up equipment according to requirements as per function and events sheet
  • Testing equipment prior to event
  • Managing broadcast suite and patch bays
  • Maintaining Digital signage system
  • Operating equipment during rehearsals and the event
  • Finding any faults on site and repairing or arranging for new equipment
  • Maintaining sound system and projectors
  • Checking and servicing equipment
  • Managing equipment booking and tracking systems
  • Cross-training information technology support specialists as back-ups for larger events
  • Auditing venue equipment resources and recommends or coordinates upgrades as necessary 

The ideal candidate will:

  • Degree or certificate from an accredited technology institute
  • Excellent communication skills dealing with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work a variety of shift times and hours dependent upon event bookings
  • 3-5 years audio event setup and support and large scale event productions
  • Familiarity with multiple media formats and file types (graphic, audio and video)
  • Experience working with digital timelines and scheduling software
  • Experience with Video Editing software
  • Basic HTML knowledge would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of digital signage system 
  • Experience with Sony Ziris systems and Adobe Flash content would be considered an asset 
  • Knowledge of Creston and digital processors

Counselor, Camp WinSport

This position is a Summer position with opportunities to work with the Outdoor Education Department during the Spring.

Summer Camp Counselors will lead campers through their daily activities providing learning experiences in teamwork, problem solving, communication and healthy living. Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for group supervision, management, activity coaching and a diverse range of activities for children.

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to:

  • Providing exciting, positive, and safe summer camp experience
  • Leading groups of campers through a full day of camp activities
  • Provide group supervision and management
  • Cooperate with guests, staff and volunteers in a respectful and supportive manner

Building Operator

This position provides support in the day-to-day operation of a fully integrated maintenance program to ensure all buildings on site at Canada Olympic Park are in good condition and repairs are dealt with in a timely manner.

Responsibilities could include, but will not be limited to:

  • Ensure safety codes and applicable regulations are followed
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Routinely inspect interior and exterior spaces and equipment on site at Canada Olympic Park
  • Monitor performance of heating, electrical, mechanical and troubleshoot problems
  • Assist and perform routine repairs on all heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, plumbing systems, electrical systems and appliances
  • Perform routine repairs and maintenance on all buildings
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and buildings to supervisor
  • Troubleshoot and take corrective action to prevent equipment or system failures
  • Isolate and lock out equipment mechanically and electrically for inspection and repair
  • Ensure that equipment and processes operate at maximum efficiency

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5th Class Power Engineer/Operator, willing to upgrade to a 4th Class Power Engineer/Operator or a 4th Class Power Engineer/Operator A ticket would be ideal
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in facility/building maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in carpentry
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively and professional, both written and oral; able to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships with tenants, internal staff,. Contractors, supplies and the public
  • Time management skills with an ability to work in an environment with changing priorities
  • Proven ability to be proactive
  • Able to develop new ideas with a focus on best practices
  • Able to participate in on call schedule

The physical demands of this position are:

  • Must lift or carry up to 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently

Coach/Program Lead, Camp WinSport

This position is a Summer position with opportunities to work with the Outdoor Education Department during the Spring.

Custodian, Night Shift

Scope of Position    

Responsible for ensuring the interior (and some exteriors) of all WinSport Canada facilities are cleaned and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Follows nightly, weekly, monthly and yearly cleaning schedules for all areas
  • Perform routine nightly cleaning of all areas
  • Take an active hands-on role regarding cleaning and custodial functions
  • Other duties, as required

Qualifications     

  • The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to partial high school education. The person can read and write so as to communicate easily, and/or can count, add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals. The incumbent's education, training, and previous experience ensure work assignments are successfully carried out because he/she understands what is expected, as well as the best approach to take

Physical Demands

  • This position requires the individual to work over night.

Director, Camp WinSport

Responsible for the design and facilitation of Camp WinSport, the Director will work in collaboration with other Coordinators and Supervisors to manage the operation of all Summer Camp programs.

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to:

  • Develop, plan, execute and monitor all Summer Programs and its operations
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, mentor and lead all Camp WinSport staff (Coaches/Program Heads, Counselors, Support staff)
  • Oversee guest services enrollment procedures, camp letters and parent inquires. Ensure consistent product delivery and premium guest service from all areas of the Camp WinSport operation
  • Work with department supervisors to develop, monitor and manage Camp WinSport's budget
  • Examine all camp sites for hazards in cooperation with the WinSport Canada's Safety and Security Supervisor and the Alberta Camping Association (ACA) Standards Manual
  • Motivate, inspire and train staff to be efficient, productive employees representing the bigger picture of WinSport Canada
  • Openly communicate with all the Summer Camp Staff and all other relevant supervisors and coordinators
  • Record and maintain equipment inventory ensuring all supplies are safe and in good working order. Overseeing that all equipment is always properly used and maintained
  • Be able to work independently without supervision but also in a team atmosphere with the best interest being the success of Camp WinSport and WinSport Canada as a whole
  • Maintain a safe environment for all staff and participants by exemplifying safe behavior

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a class 4 drivers license or will have the ability to obtain a class 4 drivers license (mandatory).
  • The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to high school graduation and completion of a diploma training program at a college or technical school. The person requires an ability to understand, utilize and communicate specialized information in speech and written text. This specialized training is often formalized and recognized by a specific certificate, diploma or license
  • Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years

Lift Operator

Lift operators are responsible to operate the chair lifts safely and efficiently while providing our guests with friendly and quality customer service while loading and unloading the lift.

Must be available to work shifts during winter holiday season (December 23, 2011 - January 8, 2012). 

Responsibilities

  • Providing the safest and most enjoyable experience to all our guests
  • Perform ticket scanning and ensure all guests using the lift have a valid ticket or pass
  • Assisting guests on and off the lifts
  • Maximize uphill lift capacity
  • Ability to maintain a safe work environment
  • Maintain all operational aspects of lifts including ramps, chairs, mazes, tools, signs, etc.
  • Provide a groomed and litter free environment to guests
  • Perform all tasks assigned by Lift Operations Supervisor and Team Lead
  • Complete daily log sheets as required

Qualifications         

  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • High school diploma an asset
  • Proactive, energetic, and have the ability to multi-task

  • Understanding and comfortable in snow riding equipment

Security Services

Under the direction of and reporting to the Supervisor, Safety & Security, Security Services has the responsibility to ensure a safe, coordinated and efficient operation of Canada Olympic Park.  As a front line communicator, Security Services is pro-active in all matters of Park safety, security, emergency response, preventative maintenance, public relations, and general Park maintenance.  Security Services liaises with the Duty Manager; is assigned special project tasks and performs Park safety and risk management            

Responsibilities could include but not limited to: 

  • Identify park wide safety concerns. Rectify these items or reports them to appropriate personnel
  • Provide assistance to paramedical staff and/or initiates first aid procedures in the absence of paramedics
  • Ensure that all first aid kits are stocked and fire extinguishers are in good working order
  • Respond to all fire and/or building alarms and implements the appropriate action
  • Assist with the implementation of the emergency response plan and procedures
  • Attend vehicle accidents and complete appropriate accident reports
  • Respond to operational and building problems. In the absence of a plant operator, assesses and rectifies the problem or contacts the appropriate personnel
  • Conduct routine patrols, building checks, and Safety Inspections of all Park buildings, facilities, and grounds
  • Operate and monitor the closed circuit television security system
  • Respond to theft and discipline problems, initiate, follow up, and complete incident/occurrence reports
  • Provide training, directions, and supervision (including discipline) to outside services and information booth personnel
  • Monitor parking and respond to parking and driving complaints
  • Provide crowd and access control for regular operations and special events
  • Assist with the coordination of special events
  • Provide general assistance to park visitors and is knowledgeable on ‘what is happening' in all areas of the park
  • Provide general assistance to other departments within the park
  • Issue and retrieve keys according to policy
  • Provide after hours access and emergency access to the warehouse and other park facilities to authorized personnel
  • Provide emergency vehicle service for staff members and park visitors
  • Ensure that outside areas of the park are cleaned by outside services staff on a regular basis
  • Liaise with various City of Calgary departments and officials including: Calgary Police Service, Emergency Medical Services, and the Calgary Fire Department
  • Other duties, as required

The idea candidate will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline
  • Mature, friendly, customer service orientated individual with excellent communication (oral and written) skills

  • Post secondary education in Criminology or Recreation an asset

Supervisor, Ski Jump Maintenance

Were you born a supervisor or did you have to earn the title?
“I actually started out as a lifty, helping people on and off the lifts. Since then, I’ve worked my way up to supervisor. I’m proof that there’s a lot of room to grow within the company.”  

It must get pretty lonely up at the ski jump towers. How do you keep yourself busy?
“There never seems to be a dull moment in my job. There’s always something exciting going on at the top of the hill. No two days are ever the same!”

The ski jump towers are only open during the winter, right?
“We actually operate year-round. Six out of our seven jumps are open during the summer months for training purposes.”
